COACH
Wendy comes to us from the Niagara Region where she was a successful competitive singles skater. Wendy was coached by former Olympian Wally Distelmeyer as well as many other talented professional coaches. She was also the youngest member of the Welland FSC to achieve her Gold Dances at the age of 12. This past summer Wendy enjoyed mentor coaching under the guidance of Olympian Ron Shaver and Lisa Woodcock. Wendy has been working with the Ice Breakers since 2004. She began her involvement with us as our Choreographer and then moved into the Head Coaching position. We have been delighted with the results! She brings fresh new ideas as well as an exuburance and enthusiasm which is certainly contagious!!! In addition to her skating background, Wendy has instructed dance (ballet, tap and jazz) both in the Niagara Region and London. Wendy was also a SALSA dance instructor at the University of Western Ontario. She is the Program Manager of Violence Against Women, Services Elgin County, a wife and a mom of two. She is focussed and driven but always manages to maintain her sense of humor to achieve results.
MANAGER
Angel Kaplanis, has become well versed in the skating world as a skating MOM. Her daughter is a competitive singles skater with the Port Stanley Figure Skating Club as well as a Synchronized Skater. Angel brings a background in financial planning, record keeping, and a never- ending positive attitude to our team. Angel coordinates our practice times and competitions as well as oversees our executive members and tasks. She is also a ready and willing mascot when we need her..... THANKS ANGEL!!!!!
EXECUTIVE
Our Executive is made up of both skaters and community volunteers. These individuals hold positions such as Finance, Travel and Accomodation, Costume , and Social. They are the backbone of our team and meet monthly to coordinate our year. They also dedicate many hours behind the scenes planning our team activities and fundraisers....... WHAT A TEAM!!!!!!!!!
